Growing up as a third generation New Zealand Indian, I was unconsciously detached from my Indian heritage. As a younger adult, I felt ashamed of my ethnicity and culture - I was whitewashed into a world where my cultural identity wasn’t accepted in society. ‘Plastic Indian’ communicates a personal search of reconnecting with my lost cultural roots. Exhibited through a series of posters, my self-exploration process demonstrates a first-hand view of my journey. (2018)
